How
Subtract
Addition is easy. The work is removing everything the image does not need until only the intention is left standing.
Build in darkness
Black is not an absence here, it is a material. Light is measured against it, grain sits inside it, type floats above it.
Finish by hand
Every frame, cut and composition passes through the same two hands. Tools change; the standard does not.
